10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Help us celebrate our favorite museum mammal – the north american river otter ! Learn otterly fantastic facts at learning stations throughout the museum and take home a craft kit. Join our otter mascot for fun activities, outside, at the Corbin Nature Pavilion, dance “ The Swim ”. Listen to “ Who Loves Water ” read loudly, and don ’ thyroxine forget to visit Chumley, Calvert, and Chessie Grace along the room ! All activities included with museum entrance fee. Admission applies ; members are FREE .

The consequence includes the Antique Boat and Marine Engine Show which features exhibits from over 30 collectors of antique and classic boats, and vintage marine outboard motorboat and inboard engines. Learn how to make traditional foods like soft crabs, crab cakes, and farce ham, watch demonstrations on how to shuck oysters like the pros, enjoy local gospel and old time music, see Chesapeake Bay retrievers in action, lookout model boats skim the waters of the boat basin, and talk with traditional crafts people as they demonstrate their skills. free 30-minute cruises on the Wm. B. Tennison. For the kids, there will be toy dog boat build and more. This is a masquerade on event.

Drum Pt Light 09-01-09 9360Maryland Lighthouse Challenge

beacon lovers are invited to take the challenge and visit ten lighthouses in two days during the Maryland Lighthouse Challenge from 8 ante meridiem – 6 post meridiem Visit the Chesapeake Chapter United States Lighthouse Society network page for directions and complete details. Visit Maryland ’ s historic lighthouses at some of the most beautiful spots in the state of matter and see Concord Point, Seven Foot Knoll, Lightship Chesapeake, Hooper Strait, Choptank River Replica, Drum Point, Cove Point, Piney Point, Point Lookout and Fort Washington Lighthouses. Challengers receive a complimentary memento at each location. Visit all ten lighthouses and proclaim “ you ’ ve seen the lights ! ” and receive a “ special ” keepsake. To access Cove Point, we request visitors take a shuttle bus from CMM ’ s main campus to Cove Point to reduce traffic in the Cove Point community. Buses will start at 8 ante meridiem with the last busbar leaving CMM at 5:15 post meridiem and returning to the museum at 6 p.m. ON SATURDAY ONLY, the Drum Point Lighthouse will be open from 8 ante meridiem to 5 p.m. The museum and Museum Store will close at 5 post meridiem After 5 post meridiem, guests can view the beacon and take pictures from the area next to the Patuxent Small Craft Center. A table for challenge participants will be set up on the outdoor PNC Waterside Pavilion stage. Sharkfest SHARKFEST! July 9, 2022
Second Saturday in July
10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Advance ticketing recommended, limited capacity. Celebrate all things shark, all day, at CMM ! Live sharks will be featured in the Corbin Pavilion for viewing. Learn fascinating ‘ sharktoids ’, analyze evidence of prehistoric sharks, and take a visualize in the life-size chew the fat of a Megalodon shark or in a real shark cage. View shark documentaries in the Harms Gallery throughout the day. Food and drink will be for sale on web site. Complimentary museum passes will not be honored and strollers are not allowed in the museum for SHARKFEST. Museum entrance fee applies ; members are FREE .

PRADPatuxent River Appreciation Day (PRAD)

10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.  FREE Patuxent River Appreciation Day ( PRAD ) is an annual festival which creates awareness, realization, and forwarding of the economic, social, amateur, cultural and diachronic shock of the tributaries and environs of the Patuxent River and the river basin through which it flows. Join us for lots of music, food, makers of home spin goods, a pet menagerie, boat rides, play boat build, pony rides, displays and activities celebrating the river – all the playfulness goings-on you have come to expect ! There will besides be new happenings and an even ‘river party ‘ to top off the consequence in style from 5 – 7:30 PM, featuring know music by Wylder and Robbie Boothe. The Calvert Marine Museum invites you to enjoy the smasher of Solomons Island during the Solomons Christmas Walk, an annual event sponsored by the Solomons Business Association. Enjoy musical entertainment, Santa, the Otter mascot, vacation crafts, and shop in the Museum Store. Santa ‘s Coffee House will be open with complimentary hot tea, chocolate, cocoa, and vacation cookies. Museum members will save 20 % off in the Museum Store all weekend !
