HAMMOCK CAMPING | Tayrona National Park | Cabo San Juan
This is our first time hammock camping and we picked one of the most beautiful locations to test it out – Tayrona National park Colombia.
Cabo San Juan beach is one of the most beautiful in the park and was on our bucket list to visit whilst backpacking Colombia.
I have wild camped UK in some gorgeous locations and have been dying to buy a hammock to camp in when I’m home, so though I’d test it out whilst backpacking in the National park.
Getting to the park is relatively straight forward, you can catch a bus from either Santa Marta in Mercado central or straight from the high street in Palomino. The bus will drop you off at Tayrona National park entrance called El Zaino.
It’s best to arrive by 7.30am, the gates open at 8.00am and the queue can get long.
You can reserve either a tent or hammock at the desk in the restaurant next to the main entrance just before you join the main queue.
There are multiple camping locations, but we recommend camping Cabo San Juan 😁👍🏻
Hammocks cost £12 each.
The park itself is stunning! We saw lots of capuchin monkeys and other wildlife, stunning beaches and gorgeous jungle paths. We also recommend doing The Lost city trek in the area as it was our highlight of Colombia! Check out our video if you haven’t seen it already!
We really enjoyed our hammock camp on the beach, although it was fairly windy and cold in the night so make sure you pack plenty of layers
We can’t wait to get back to the uk to do a hammock wild camp and it was great to get some hammock camping tips. We are looking to buy one when we are home for some hammock stealth camp so any recommendations are welcome!
We really hope you enjoy this video, please drop it a like and don’t forget to subscribe to Drunk On Wanderlust 🤩
