Become a licensed deck officer with the Maritime Apprenticeship Program (MAP) from MITAGS. This apprenticeship program lasts two years and offers 24 weeks of classroom training to help people feel confident to become an officer or mate.
MITAGS offers a two-year state-registered MAP from our West Coast Campus in Seattle, Washington. This apprenticeship is in partnership with the Washington State Ferries and allows people to get a license as Mate Unlimited (Inland). Earning a Mate’s License usually takes six to eight years, but you can fast track your career and get the training, knowledge and license in just two years with our program.
