With the release of the newest Lineage OS making version 19 official, people have naturally begun searching for features they loved in the previous release. Most of these features have made its way over to the new update but one change seems to be brought up again and again. Where is the Accent Color picker that we have all been used to on the last two versions of the custom ROM?

Sadly, the developers of the ROM have chosen to remove the color picker that was baked into the custom ROM.

The custom ROM still has the monet theming feature which acts like Material You and grabs the base color of your wallpaper and uses it as the accent color. But there isn’t a built-in feature that enables you to pick the color you want.

So in this video I want to show you the three ways you can change the accent color on LineageOS 19.

The first way is the feature that is currently built into Lineage OS. While we can’t pick the color ourselves, we can change the wallpaper on the phone and that should change the accent color automatically. Just like you would expect from Material You.

The second way this is done is with a free application called LWP+ and it does not require root access. Sadly, I can’t demonstrate this here in today’s video with the Google Pixel 4a for some reason. As the app is not installable via the Google Play Store for me. But the application does have a custom colors option which, when enabled, will let you pick your phone’s Primary Color, Secondary Color, and Tertiary Color.

It is free and you’ll find the link to its Google Play Store page in the video description below.

The third method is a paid application called Repainter that promises to offer wider support for devices (which is likely why I can install it from the Play Store), and it may require root access. I say may require root access, because it depends on which device you currently own and what ROM is currently installed.

The app description notes that this will work on Samsung devices without root access, but it does require you to use the Shizuku app. You can get custom color picking on Google Pixel devices without root access, along with many of its theme styles, but other customization features will require root access on these devices. And the developer notes that all other devices will require root access in order for it to function.

This app will not work as intended on MIUI ROMs, but is said to fully support Samsung’s One UI, OnePlus’ OxygenOS, ASUS’ ZenUI. But you could see the app work as intended on other phone’s that use an AOSP based ROM.
