Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Recovery Mode is a feature to help restore the Android OS into a working state. In this video, I show you how to take any variant of the series and boot it into Recovery Mode as well as how to boot out of this special boot mode.
This tutorial works for the Redmi Note 10, 10S, 10 Pro, 10 Pro Max, and the 5G variant of the base model.

Android comes with a number of special boot modes that give you access to special parts of the filesystem. When we have booted into Android the software is stored on the /system partition. But when we boot into Recovery Mode it’s actually pulling the software from the /recovery partition.
By default, Xiaomi is loading the Redmi Note 10 Pro with what it calls MIUI Recovery 5.0 (often referred to as stock recovery). However, if you have installed a custom recovery in the past then you’ll boot into that instead.
In order to begin, we need the device to be in a powered-off state. So, if you are able to boot into the Android operating system then shut down the phone like normal through the Power Menu. If your phone is currently in a bootloop though, you’ll need to time the button combination when you see it reboot.
Once the phone has been turned off, go ahead and press the Power and Volume Up buttons at the same time. You’ll need to continue holding these two buttons down throughout the first boot logo/splash screen. After a few seconds of seeing the text “Redmi” on the screen, you should see it switch over into the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max Recovery Mode menu.
Like me in the video, you may even see it skip the main menu and go straight to the reboot menu because of accidental button presses. That’s okay if you do. We can go back to the main menu very easily.
While you are at the menu here, you will need to use the physical buttons in order to navigate through the menus. As shown in the video, the touch screen is not going to be responsive while in this special boot mode.
When you’re ready to exit Recovery Mode, you can do so by selecting the Reboot option and then telling it to reboot back into the “system” as shown in the video. Again, we need to use the hardware button combination to do so.
