A while back Google updated its virtual assistant so that it would no longer respond with an audible beep after saying the OK Google or Hey Google hotword phrase.
This update was pushed out by the company as they felt it was no longer needed since it just added a delay between saying the hotword and actually giving the google assistant your request. However, I do know that removing this option bothered some people as they used the beep to know when the device actually detected the hotword phrase.
So in today’s video I want to show you a little trick that will bring back this audible beep when you activate the Google Assistant.
This process requires us to go into the Settings application and then enable an Accessibility option. So let’s open up this application and find that menu section.
We can either go through the menus themselves to find the feature, or we can simply go into the Search Box at the top here and type in the words Switch Access.
This is an accessibility feature built into Android to help those who are physically impaired. I won’t detail how this feature itself works in this video since it shouldn’t change how we interact with the smartphone or tablet.
So this is just a unique workaround for people who really want their device beep after the hotword phrase has been detected.
