Samsung has offered an official bootloader unlock method for its Galaxy S smartphones for years. Granted, the most casual smartphone owners who purchase the Snapdragon model may not be aware of that. But those who can obtain the Exynos variant can choose to go down this route.

So, once you have confirmed the Samsung Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, or Galaxy S21 Ultra you own is the Exynos version, then we can begin this tutorial.

The first thing you want to do after activating your smartphone is to check for an OTA update. Not only is it good to know you’re on the latest firmware, but it’s also required for the bootloader unlock. See, Samsung needs to register this device with its servers to begin a countdown timer (typically 7 days).

So be sure to check for that OTA update when you first use the phone.

When you have waited long enough, your persistent RMM state should change from prenormal to normal (which can be confirmed in Download Mode). This is when you are allowed to officially unlock the bootloader for the Samsung Galaxy S21.

Now, let’s go ahead and enable Developer Mode so that we can flip the OEM unlock toggle. This toggle is a security measure put in place by Android that needs to be enabled before we can unlock the Galaxy S21 bootloader.

Once the toggle has been tapped, we can boot the phone into Download Mode and then enter the dedicated bootloader unlock screen. You will be instructed to confirm whether or not you want to proceed with this. Remember, this will wipe all of the personal data you had on the device.

With the factory reset complete, the Galaxy S21 Ultra will now boot into the Android OS. This first boot back into the operating system will take longer than normal since we just erased everything. But be patient and then log into your accounts when you can.

If you want, you can enable Developer Mode again and check the OEM Unlock toggle if you want. This is a nice and easy to way to check and see if your Galaxy S21+ bootloader has been unlocked or not.

Note: Simply unlocking the bootloader does NOT void your warranty. Also, it does not trip KNOX either. If you root with Magisk or perform some other mod, yes, that will result in KNOX detecting it. But that doesn’t happen from just unlocking the bootloader.
