I was finally able to install the Android 12 OneUI 4.0 update to my Galaxy Note 10 and in today’s video I’ll be showing you how to gain root access to the device with the current version of Magisk.

Before we can even begin, though, we need to have some things done ahead of time. For example, we need to have the bootloader of this phone unlocked before we can proceed. So if you haven’t done that yet, be sure to look in the video description as I’ll be including a link to a separate video where I go through the bootloader unlock process.
Now, we also need to download the Galaxy Note 10+ firmware that you currently have installed on your phone. I used a program called Frija to download this copy but you can use many other sources for firmware downloads. Again, check in the video description as I’ll include a link to another guide I did specifically for downloading Samsung Galaxy firmware.
Lastly, we need to sideload the current version of Magisk. As of this video, we’re at version 24.1 of Magisk but if there’s a newer one then you likely want to use that one instead. I just want everyone to know that I’ll be using version 24.1 in this guide for those who want to make sure everything is exactly the same.
We’re going to need to exact the contents of the firmware we downloaded, so we can copy the AP firmware file to our Galaxy Note 10+ here.
Load the modified AP file into Odin with the rest of the firmware files and then flash them while the Galaxy Note 10+ is in Download Mode.
Make sure you set Odin to not auto reboot, though. Because we need to do this manually so that we can load the Magisk binaries.
Once you get the green PASS message in Odin, now you can manually reboot the phone and immediately begin holding the two required buttons so that it boots into Recovery Mode first (which is required in order to load Magisk).
I’ve seen some guides mention a factory data reset being needed here. I didn’t need to do this but if it comes up then this is likely why it’s recommended by some people.
My root process had me loading Magisk at boot after flashing the files via Odin, and then finding the Magisk app stub in the App Drawer.
There are some that recommend sideloading the Magisk APK file if you don’t see this app stub in your App Drawer.
Either way, opening up Magisk here should bring up a ‘requires additional setup’ prompt. Following the prompt as I did in the video will require an app install and an additional reboot.
NOTE: You will need to use a USB cable and the button combo to load Magisk at boot. Failing to do this will make it seem like Magisk isn’t even installed (when it really is. . .it just wasn’t loaded at boot that time).
I will likely do a separate video detailing this requirement as it still confuses people to this day.
